PROJECT: A visualization of the Euromayday process

NOTES FROM TURIN MEETING Mayo (January 2006)

Procedural: Start by doing a basic visualization, that it could followed by other more complexes cartography (Ex: precarity maps).

IDEATIZATION:

- Geographical European map with points marking the groups involve at the Euromayday process at each city (the map on the left and center) and on the right (if possible) a blog of relevant actual news. The blog of news with a login system. Clicking each point in the map you have access to a knot card (including the website access to the groups). In a city could be more than one point!Concerning the groups present, it is not an aim to be completely exhaustive (see below the methodology to collect the info).

The point on the map will be groups involve on the Euromayday process and not struggles because the ephemerally of the struggles. Although that at the knot card it is asked to the groups to give information on the struggles at their city.

- It is consider to be a multidimensional visualization. That it is, there is different maps for each theme, that could be seen alone or all together. For example a map with the trade unions (with green points), and other one with action research groups (pints in red) etc, but also the possibility of see all of them together. If it is possible to have a system to insert more groups at the visualization. So to have an system to update the groups at the database and at the visualization not depending on a hight level technical knowledge, but easy to be inserted.

- At the Euromayday process website will be a link to this visualization

- Before to see the visualization it will be a “home page” with the following infos:

- Explanation that this visualization is a firts step, for a further militant research process

- A basic explanation of the working group (that it is a working group depending to the Euromayday european assembly)

- Explanation of how to use the visualization

TASK FOR MILAN!

• The tecnical team is in charge of write the specificities of the visualization (a document that specify what the map have to do), search for an appropiete solfware and for contacting the people who could develop the tecnical part. A firts example of visualization will be done for Milan with a basic system.
• The editorial team is in change of collecting the knod cards and systematize them for Milan meeting. And to write an explanation document on the project for Milan.
• There are people a list of people in charge of asking the groups to full fill the knod card of their own city/area (See below the knod card) THE DEADLINE FOR SEND THE KNOD CARD IS 13 OF FEBRARY (BEFORE THE MILAN MEETING)
• It will be also send an e-mail to the Euromayday e-list asking for more dinamisers by cities/areas.

Elements still to be designed in the future:

Design the aesthetic (colours, design aspects etc.)
