CON ITOIZ

On February 1995, a year and a half after the beginning of the construction works, "Solidarios con Itoiz"was born. The intention was to create a new front of struggle: that of direct, public and no-violent action. A civil disobedience action strategy to defend the Earth.
Our main objective has been to stop the construction works of the Itoiz damn. We have achieved this objective a few times: from some minutes, hours, days to even a year in the action when we cut the cables of the concrete pump for the construction.
Along these eight years we have carried out around sixty actions to denounce the irrationality of the institutions that in spite of the evidence of the opposition reasons have continued with this anti-ecological, anti-social, illegal, corrupt and criminal.
Our actions are focused on the headquarters of the companies and government agencies responsible for the construction works or on the construction site to try to stop the works once and for all.
When the civil disobedience actions end, the members of the group remain in the place without making any resistance to police detention, despite many times being battered by the different police forces and security guards.

Due to these actions, members of Solidari@s have been prosecuted many times, with the result of eight of them being imprisoned for 2 months (due to the action where the cables were cut off), another one imprisoned for 16 months and at these moments our fellow Iñaki García Koch who has already served two years in prison out of the five he was sentenced because of his participation cutting the cables.
