Fourth press release Around seven o´clock the police forces have discovered two people that were hidden and chained up inside one of the houses. We´ve been said that next thursday the people who took part in the action against the eviction are going to be tried. At eight o´clock and after a mass meeting with around 250 people, they have started a demonstration to protest against the brutality in the eviction and the beginning of the demolition of the houses in Itoiz. In this mass meeting it has been proosed to go walking up to Itoiz. After being walking around 400 metres a group of riot police has blocked the march. Then, the demonstration has decided to sit in and after some tense moments the police were asked to give permission to take water and food to the people who were still inside the houses that were on their feet. Finally, the police didn´t accept the petition and started to charge against the people with rubber bullets and their truncheons. As a result of this four people were arrested and taken to the police station in Aoiz. A girl has been injured by a rubber bullet and has been attended by members of DYA. At this moment we don´t know about her health state. Another person has been injured in his eye by a rubber bullet and the window of a pub has been smashed by another rubber bullet. Another person has been hit on his head by another rubber bullet. At around half past ten at night the police forces have charged when the people were going to the police station to ask about the four people arrested. As far as we know 12 of the people arrested during this first day of resistance in Itoiz have been released after being questioned. After a break, at around 11 O´clock 5 other people were going to be interrogated by the judge. According the police forces tonight 8 people have not been evicted. They are anchored with tubes into the walls of the house and some others are locked up in a strongroom. This chamber has been prepared so as to withstand for some days. As a whole 21 people have been arrested by the civil guard ( a kind of paramilitar police) and by the police depending on the Goverment of Navarra. ( The forales). The four people arrested by the civil guard have been taken to their police station in Pamplona (capital of Navarra). As far as we concern this direct action continuous open, as an unknown number of people are still resisting in the houses in Itoiz ( more than 8 people). Our target is keep on resisting as long as possible and denounce the irrationality not only of this demolition but the whole proyect.
We denounce energically the attitude of the Goverment of Navarra and its police (the forales), as they have put in serious danger human lives in a savage eviction. We make an appeal to support en masse to the people who are still resisting anchored with tubes and locked up in a strongroom, carrying out any direct action you consider useful in your cities and villages. We´ll go on reporting tomorrow morning.
