PRESS CONFERENCE

Solidaries with Itoitz convokes the press for a conference outside the headquarters of the Navarran Government , underneath the statue that stands for the rights of all the navarrans.The last three persons to be evicted from Itoitz before its complete demolition were present together with one of the lawyers from the group.

The two people who had spent three days in the bunker denounced the neglicence and imprudence both the Navarran police and the demolishing company showed during the three days resistance lasted for.They have also denounced the improvisation,loss of control and insensateness of these who made this eviction become a nightmare for everyone who took part in the action.

They explained that they had asked for the Fire Brigade to take part in the eviction feeling that the lack of professionalism and technical knowledge about the matter the police and demolishing company showed meant a serious risk of their lives.

The other person,inhabitant of one of the houses in the village,Jakue,spent two and a half days inside his own house without being detected,and declared he had had to leave his hiding to let himself be seen a couple of times as the machines were uncontrollably demolishing around and the Navarran police made no notice of the mediators who were asking them to stop and threatened with demolishing his house.

Charges have been presented against the tactics followed by the Navarran Government to evict Itoitz as fast as possible,pretending to force the activists resisting to ask for the intervention of the Fire Brigade by making things dangerously.Their only aim was to turn the eviction into a "rescue",eluding responsibilities in the case of an accident.

Tuesday was a crucial day in the eviction: in an emergency meeting authorities from the Navarran Government,the Civil Guard,the Spanish National Police, the Navarran Police and the Fire brigade designed the resolution of the "problem".

The lawyer assisting the group has announced different testimonies are being compiled to take legal actions against the politicians responsible ,the policemen in charge and the demolishing company,perpetrators of the demolition.
